Job Description

Municipal Services Assistant

Reporting to and receiving direct supervision from the Executive Assistant, the Municipal Services Assistant is responsible for providing front office clerical support in a variety of areas, including:

  • Applying the County procedures in processing Accounts Receivable invoices;
  • Applying County procedures in processing Utility invoices;
  • Administering the records retention process;
  • Providing clerical support relative to property taxes, such as creating files for new subdivisions, updating municipal records, and providing filing and administration support;
  • Administering and updating name and address system;
  • Providing back-up reception duties as needed.

Additional duties or special projects may also be assigned within the scope of the work performed.

Qualified Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate:

  • Has completed a high school diploma or GED, supplemented with experience or training in basic bookkeeping and MS Office products.
  • Exhibits abilities and skills in:
    • Communicating clearly, both in writing and verbally, with accuracy and attention to detail on written correspondence.
    • Time management, including punctuality.
    • Being accountable for own actions and working well on a team, including being able to keep an open-mind, be honest, fair, and to interact with all levels of staff courteously and effectively, ensuring that a positive attitude is employed in day-to-day work.
    • Respecting privacy and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to participate in training or work-related workshops.

The following would be considered assets in this position:

  • Accounts Receivable experience.
  • Customer service or reception experience.

Compensation

The County of St. Paul offers an excellent benefit and pension package and a competitive salary and will negotiate within the position’s salary range based on experience and qualifications.
