County of St. Paul residents will have the chance to win great prizes and get their properties fire safe by playing FireSmart Bingo.
The goal of FireSmart Bingo is to inform residents about the importance of using FireSmart practices on their property. Being FireSmart means preparing your home and property so that it will be more resilient to wildfire. Examples include cleaning out your gutters, inspecting your roof shingles, and ensuring your rural address sign is clearly visible.
“The contest partners are always looking at ways to engage with residents,” said Henry Thomson, Deputy Chief with St. Paul Fire Department, “but community engagement has been challenging over the past year with COVID-19 restrictions. This online contest is a great way for our county residents to learn about FireSmart practices and have a chance to win great prizes.”
How do you play? The contest bingo card has 24 spaces, each with a different FireSmart task. Register for the game, finish a task, and upload a photo of the completed task. A resident must complete at least 12 of the 24 tasks to be entered for prizes.
The contest closes on May 31 at midnight.
The FireSmart Bingo contest is in partnership with the County of St. Paul, FireSmart Canada, St. Paul Cornerstone Co-op, St. Paul Fire Department, Elk Point Fire Department, Ashmont Fire Department and Mallaig Fire Department.
