Bylaw 2026-16 Public Hearing: LUB Amendment
The County of St. Paul is holding a Public Hearing for Bylaw 2026-16 on July 28, 2026, at 11 a.m. The first reading of the Bylaw took place on June 9.
The purpose of the Bylaw is to amend Section 7.35(29) of the Land Use Bylaw regarding the separation distance between dwellings and Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS). Council will receive comments at the Public Hearing on the proposed changes, in accordance with Section 692 of the Municipal Government Act, Chapter M-26, Revised Statutes of Alberta 2000, as amended.
- Current wording: The setback distance between a WECS and a dwelling, within and without the project boundary, shall be as established by the Alberta Utilities Commission through the calculations of AUC Rule 12.
- Proposed wording: The setback distance between a WECS and a dwelling, within or outside the project boundary, shall be 1,500 m.
Persons claiming to be affected by the proposed change may voice their concerns at the Public Hearing. Comments may also be sent via written submissions that are mailed, emailed ([email protected]), or delivered to the County Administration Office before the Public Hearing.
At the Public Hearing, the Chair shall hear representation first from people who claim to be directly affected by the proposed amendment, followed by any other person who wishes to speak.
