The Village App Arrives in the County of St. Paul

St. Paul County, March 25, 2024 – The County of St. Paul makes another step in community building as The Village App makes its grand entrance.

In March 2023, the County of St. Paul secured designation under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) Rural Renewal Stream (RRS) to address labour demands and foster growth by welcoming newcomers. Collaborating with the St. Paul/Elk Point Economic Development Alliance (STEP), Portage College, and The Village App, local organizations are banding together to ensure newcomers and residents alike have easy access to vital resources, enhancing community cohesion and retention.

Born out of a shared vision for inclusive and resilient communities, The Village App is more than just a digital platform; it’s a beacon of hope, a gateway to belonging, and a catalyst for positive change. With its official launch, residents and newcomers alike are invited to connect with neighbours, find resources, and create a hyperlocal sharing economy.

The Village App offers a myriad of benefits but most notable is the emphasis on real-world connections. “Unlike other platforms that keep you glued to your screen, our goal is to connect people in real life to improve community safety, belonging, and resilience.” says CEO Ashley Stone, former St. Paul resident. “We are thrilled to embark on this journey with STEP through the Rural Renewal Stream as a community toolkit and a shared vision where everyone has a support network they can call on.”

All residents and newcomers in St. Paul County are invited to join the app and share in shaping a brighter future together. Explore the possibilities, connect with neighbours, and contribute to a thriving community. We are proud of our close-knit region and look forward to becoming even more so.
