Lakeland Agricultural Research Association
The Lakeland Agricultural Research Association (LARA) will develop applied research throughout Northeastern Alberta to achieve a profitable and sustainable future for producers, by linking all members of the agricultural community.
LARA is an applied research association that serves the County of St. Paul, the M.D. of Bonnyville, and Lac La Biche County. We are a member organization of the Agricultural Research and Extension Council of Alberta (ARECA). Our plan is to conduct applied research, demonstrations, and extension programs on annual cropping, forage and livestock production, specialty crops, and horticulture.
LARA has a long and strong history in the County of St. Paul. Recently LARA funded the pesticide container recylcling depot and the proposed expansion of the St. Paul Seed Cleaning Plant. LARA will continue to access funds to be used in the County.
With the addition of a Cropping Specialist to our team, stationed in the County of St. Paul, LARA will continue to be an important source of agriculture extension services in the County.
Growing trials at the Agricultural Centre of Excellence has given local producers access to unbiased and local research data. Results are published every year in our annual report and provided for county residents to access.
With a variety of workshops, tours, and newsletters LARA continues to ensure local producers are kept informed on current policies and technology in the agricultural industry.
Thanks go to County of St. Paul for its continued support of LARA to achieve its mission.
