2026-27 Winter Snow Flags available for purchase
The County of St. Paul is now accepting new and renewed Snowplow Agreements and seasonal Snow Flag purchases for the 2026-27 Winter season. With these agreements, the County provides snow removal services for residents’ driveways for the upcoming winter season.
To purchase a seasonal flag, the costs are:
- Between now and October 31, $300
- Between November 1 and December 15, $400
Seasonal snow flags will not be available for purchase after December 15; however, custom snow clearance may be available at an hourly rate.
New and returning applicants are encouraged to review the County’s Driveway Snow Removal Policy to understand the frequency and order of priority for snow clearance.
How do I purchase a Snow Flag?
Residents can purchase a seasonal snow flag at the County of St. Paul Public Works Shop (5618 57 Street) during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Your purchase will also require a completed or renewed Snowplow Agreement. This can be reviewed at the time of purchase.
What discounts are there for Snow Flags?
Seniors 65+ who reside in the County full-time are not charged for Snow Flags. Widows whose spouse was a senior, but are not senior themselves, can also apply for Snow Flags at no cost.
Persons with disabilities qualify for free seasonal Snow Flags. Please complete the Disability Verification Form to include with your Snowplow Agreement.
What if I have a Snow Flag from a previous winter?
For the 2026-27 season, ratepayers and residents with 2025 and older snow flags must bring them to the County Public Works Shop for replacement. At this time, you can also pay for the upcoming snowplowing services and confirm the residence details in your Snowplow Agreement.
Residences with old seasonal snow flags posted will not have their driveways cleared.
Senior snow flags do not need to be replaced, but Snowplow Agreements do still need to be completed or reviewed.
I’m a renter; can I still purchase a Snow Flag?
Renters living in the County of St. Paul can purchase a seasonal Snow Flag! However, landlords (as landowners in the County) will need to complete/review the Snowplow Agreement and pick up the Snow Flag on your behalf.
How soon will my driveway be cleared after a snowfall event?
The County’s Snow Clearing Procedure is to complete all snow and ice control within 5 Days (60 hours) at the end of a snowfall event. Roads are cleared in order of priority, with private driveways and farmyards with snow flags as Priority 3. Depending on the amount of snow received, as we saw with the 2025/26 winter season, this clearance may extend beyond the 5 days.
Please note, for the first snowfall or two, clearance may also extend beyond the 5 days as the County allows time to build a proper snowpack for the season to protect the gravel roads.
