Ashmont & Mallaig Truckfills Reopened, Callout to Conserve
On the morning of July 11, the Ashmont and Mallaig truckfill stations were reopened. The stations were temporarily closed on the evening of July 9 due to low water levels in the station reservoirs.
The County of St. Paul is continuing to monitor usage closely to ensure reservoir levels do not get too low. With the current heatwave in the region, water usage has increased substantially from additional lawn watering, crop spraying, and other efforts to stay cool. This added usage puts the County at risk, as we need to ensure we have an adequate supply for emergency purposes.
To mitigate that risk at this time, we ask users to limit refills to 1,000 gallons for the remainder of this heatwave to ensure sustainable use of water. Take only what is needed for your household and conserve elsewhere as much as possible.
If you don’t need potable water (e.g. for spraying crops), there is a coin-op raw well water truckfill south of Ashmont available for use.
The County and our Fire Departments thank you for your cooperation!
