Mallaig sewer strain, June 21

Updated, June 23: Levels in the Mallaig sewer system have been brought down. Thank you to residents for their cooperation and assistance!

The County Public Works Department is asking residents in Mallaig to reduce non-essential water use and ensure that sump pumps are not pumping into the sewer system at this time.

Due to the amount of rain received over the June 20-21 weekend, the sewer system in the Hamlet of Mallaig is currently overloaded. We are working to bring in a sewer truck to bring down the levels.
