The County of St. Paul, Towns of St. Paul and Elk Point, and Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay are looking for resident input on possible rural public transit solutions throughout the St. Paul Region.

The survey is open to ages 15-75+ and can be found here: https://forms.office.com/r/LxRnx04dg9

What to expect in the survey

  • Estimated to take 7 minutes to complete
  • Questions on demographics (e.g. age, area you live in, number of household members)
  • Questions about current travel habits and needs (e.g. if you have a driver’s license, where you travel for work, school, and healthcare)
  • Ranking new, potential public transit options for the region

Grant funding for feasibility study

In 2024, St. Paul / Elk Point (STEP) Economic Development Alliance received a Canada Rural Transit Fund grant for a Public Transportation Study. This study aims to help understand the rural transportation challenges across the shared region in the County of St. Paul, Towns of St. Paul and Elk Point, and Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay.

What the study entails

Before any public transit options can be explored and implemented, we need to understand the transportation needs and travel habits in our community. This will help us determine the feasibility of these options throughout the region. After consulting with various stakeholders – senior housing staff, family and social services providers, and post-secondary institutions, to name a few – a survey was prepared. This survey will help us to understand current travel habits, requirements, and concerns.

Your input will be greatly beneficial in helping determine what public transportation options are feasible and could be implemented in the region!
